Development of a mobile application for monitoring the temperature in tanks

Client’s task

The client requested the creation of a temperature monitoring system for thermal tank containers used for transporting food products.
The main goal was to ensure continuous temperature monitoring during delivery and provide a convenient tool for visualizing it in real time.

Project Goals

  • Automate the collection and monitoring of temperature data during transportation.
  • Provide customers with a transparent monitoring method via a mobile app.
  • Reduce the workload of dispatchers by automatically transmitting information to the customer.

Input Data

  • Fleet: 25+ thermal tank containers.
  • Each unit is equipped with basic analog temperature sensors.
  • Integration with existing equipment and the ability to expand functionality were required.

Solution Implementation

1. Equipment Upgrade

An additional, next-generation ADM digital sensor was installed on each thermal tank container.
It was mounted behind the standard sensor without disturbing the tank structure; reliable thermal contact was ensured by a special heat-conducting material.

2. Integration with the monitoring system

Digital temperature sensors are connected to navigation terminals that support data exchange with equipment from different manufacturers. This made it possible to integrate all information sources into a single system without replacing existing devices.

3. Mobile application development

A mobile application for Android was created that:

  • displays temperature in real time;
  • generates graphs of changes over a selected period;
  • stores measurement history and alerts when acceptable values ​​are exceeded.

The interface was designed for ease of use by drivers and customers.

 Implementation results

After a year of operation, the system has demonstrated excellent results:

  •  Drivers’ responsibility for maintaining temperature control has increased.
  • 95% of drivers have begun to promptly respond to deviations and report malfunctions.
  • Customer trust has increased significantly thanks to transparency and access to data.

Solution Flexibility

The developed application can connect to any telematics device and work with various types of sensors—temperature, fuel level, tire pressure, etc.
This makes the system universal and easily adaptable to the needs of any fleet.
